Maine Weather, Movie Sequels

My new Sanford News column is now available, hot off the press.

Fourth of July weekend, it was sunny and in the 90's for four days. This past week was rainy and in the 60's. Today, we start another week of high temps with  high humidity. I know we can't change the weather and complaining does no good, but as Gob says on Arrested Development, Come On!

Our garden is the worst it's been in six years because of all the rain we've had. Well, at least someone is enjoying himself.

Sam's birthday was last week and I took him and his friend to see Despicable Me 2. It was really good, better than the first. That's two kids movie sequels (Monsters University) that I found to be better than the original movies. We're going to see Smurfs 2 in a few weeks, so we'll see if that makes it three for three.

I read Bonfire of The Vanities a few weeks ago. It was fantastic, one of the better books I've read in the past year. Then I read Some Can Whistle, by Larry McMurtry. Not so good. Now I'm reading The Outsider, the Jimmy Conners autobiography. I've been looking forward to this book for a long time. So far, it's very good.

I've been writing articles for Yahoo Contributor Network, 350 words or so per article. I'm hoping to make a little bit of money for it. So far, that's exactly what I've made -  a little bit of money. And I've been plugging away at Rock Star. I'm up to about 68,000 words now and I think the end is in sight. The goal is to have it finished by the end of July, and I may actually make it.
